Perry Edge, President of Double E Promotions, is proud to announce the addition of Country Star Buddy Jewell to the Double E roster. Double E Promotions provides Booking and Radio Promotional services for Buddy Jewell.

Second only to his relationship with God is his family. Jewell’s roles as devoted husband to Tene and proud father to three beautiful children (Buddy III, Lacey and Joshua) are the subject of the autobiographical “When I’m Good and Gone.” Written with good friend Leslie Satcher, this ballad (with heartfelt sincerity) reflects on the hopes and dreams of a dedicated husband and father.

The Men of Music Join the Double E Promotions & Perry Edge Promotions Roster!

It’s often an amazing sight to see how God can bring something that you once thought was a part of your past back into your life and use it for His glory. That kind of spiritual resurrection happened for the Men of Music – who recently returned to full-time touring and ministry.

The Men of Music were formed in Austin, Texas in 1995 by then group owner and baritone Cleon Yates. Yates filled out the rest of the group with some notable names in the Gospel music community like Bobby Clark, Jim Wesson, Chris West, and Buddy Burton.

In 2002, Yates turned over the reigns of the group to then bass singer Mike Bullock who led the group for several years – including hiring members Gregory Colburn and Rodney Tyson. In 2006, Bullock pulled the group off the road after his wife’s diagnosis with Multiple Myloma bone cancer. At that point, it seemed like the Men of Music’s time on the road was a glorious but brief one.

Colburn and Tyson spent the next few years performing and working in Gospel music with other regional and national groups.

In 2009, Greg felt the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit that it was time to bring back the Men of Music. After attaining the blessing of Mike Bullock to resurrect the group, Greg started calling his industry friends seeking people to fill the top two positions, and God brought the right people in His perfect timing.

“After many auditions, we got a call from a former Men of Music lead vocalist, Rodney Tyson,” mentioned Greg. “Rodney came in for an audition, and it was so evident that God meant for him to be here. There was no question that this was who we had been looking for.” Then came the talented vocalist, Tyler Hudson to fill the tenor spot thus rounding out the trio! Tyler, a recent graduate of UNA, comes to us from Florence, Alabama!

The new Men of Music made their debut in September of 2009 in Florien, Louisiana in a concert event with the Southern Plainsmen Quartet.

Marcelle Slaughter, manager of the Southern Plainsmen Quartet said, “Our group, The Southern Plainsmen, had the distinction of promoting this ‘new’ Men of Music in its first performance! The crowd loved them! On their first night these gentlemen took the stage as seasoned professionals! Not only did they entertain with the smooth blended harmony of veterans, they ministered with class!”

“The Men of Music is definitely a ministry minded and oriented group,” mentioned Greg Colburn. “We feel that God has placed a calling on our lives to sing this music. He has ordained us individually, as well as collectively, by placing us here, together, in the Men of Music.”

Greg continued, “Our motivation is to see lives changed and souls saved for the Kingdom of God. We see this often as non-believers will come to a concert, but will not attend a church service. Therefore, we feel that in every concert we must convey the Love of Christ in our music, our testimony, and our lives that others might see the love of Christ in and through us. Our goal is to tell as many as will listen that God sent His Son, Jesus, that all might be Saved!”

After giving his blessing to Greg to resurrect the group, Mike Bullock felt that he needed to continue to stay at home and be with his family. His wife Carolyn visits the University Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas every four months for a check-up, and as of the last report – Carolyn is in remission!

The Men of Music are excited to be a part of a very rich heritage that the men before them have laid, but are also expecting great things from God on this new leg of their journey

The Hemphills Join the Perry Edge Promotions Roster!

Over the past 40 years, the name "Hemphill" has become established as one of the most recognized names in the world of gospel music. A powerful ministry and a catalog of classic gospel songs bear the name "Hemphill" and their ministry is continuing and new classics are being written. All a tribute to the faithfulness of God and a man and wife's devotion to their Savior and tenacious desire to serve Him at all costs and in the face of dire circumstances. This man and wife are Joel & LaBreeska Hemphill and their ministry, having been tried by fire and found worthy, is as vibrant now as it ever has been.

Joel and LaBreeska Hemphill began their ministry as an evangelistic preaching and singing team. Starting with just the two of them, the team added new members and eventually included their children, Joey, Trent and Candy. This family became one of the foremost mixed groups in gospel music and the Hemphills became famous for the talent of their personnel and for the quality of the material they sang, most of it written by Joel. They received six Dove Awards for their efforts and Joel was nominated ten times by the Gospel Music Association as song writer of
the year. "He's Still Workin' On Me," "Every Need Supplied," "Master of the Wind," "Consider the Lilies," "I Claim the Blood," "Let's Have a Revival" and over 350 more were all penned by the skillful hand of Joel Hemphill. The years the Hemphills traveled with their children forever enriched gospel music.

In 1990, the Hemphills children decided to pursue other interests and the group disbanded. Joel and LaBreeska's ministry had come full circle and it was just the two of them once again, yet they were excited and looked forward to the challenges and opportunities this presented. However, just as they were about to start their new ministry in earnest, the greatest trial of their lives began. Joel was diagnosed with colon cancer and their ministry was suspended pending Joel's recovery. The surgery was successful but prolonged complications began to take their toll and plummeted him into severe clinical depression, totally disabling him for over two years from his normal life and ministry.

Had this depression continued it no doubt would have led to the most tragic conclusion, however, God intervened. Joel and LaBreeska had sought God for months, along with their many friends everywhere who knew of his illness, and on Sunday morning, November 8, 1992, while being
prayed for by his Pastor and church, Joel received his complete healing. Crediting God for the miracle, Joel's doctor says, "Prayer lifted his depression." Although having written the song "Master of the Wind" years before, the lyrics now took on new meaning. "I know the Master of
the Wind, I know the maker of the rain, He can calm the storm, Make the sun shine again, I know the Master of the Wind." The Master of the Wind calmed Joel and LaBreeska's storm and restored their ministry, empowering them with an awareness of His presence as never before.

Today, totally restored, Joel and LaBreeska are more eager than ever to share their marvelous testimony to the awesome healing and restoration power of God. They go all over the world singing and preaching the good news of Christ's gospel, and of His power to heal ailments and conquer all adversity. Joel has written over 100 new gospel songs with cuts that include, "I'd Like To Say It Again," by the Cathedrals, "When Jesus Says It's Enough," by the Gaither Vocal Band and "Two Out of Three," which was recorded and singled by Charlie Daniels. They are frequent television guests and appear as regulars on the Gaither Homecoming videos. Their ministry of singing, preaching and recording continues with greater anointing than ever before and it can be expected that their greatest accomplishments are yet to come.

The Parish Family Joins the Double E Roster!

The Parish Family is a Christian Country/Country Gospel trio from Bainbridge, Georgia consisting of two brothers, Mark Parish and Ronnie Parish, and Ronnie's wife, Kesha Brimlow Parish. All three members are songwriters and trade off singing lead and harmony vocals which offers a greater variety for their listening audiences to enjoy.

The group had a phenomenal year bringing in two #1 singles this summer, "Pray for Me" and "Jesus Is" and have also been nominated for an ICM New Artist of the Year Award. The Parish Family's latest single, "Back on the Wheel" has just been released to radio and has been included on a CD compilation with some of the biggest names in Country and Gospel music. Proceeds from this CD project will be used to fund the building of churches and orphanages in other countries. "We feel so blessed to have been included on the "Working on a Building" CD project!", says Kesha Parish. "We give ALL the glory to God for growing our ministry this year and using us to reach the lost." says Kesha.

Be listening for their latest single, "Back on the Wheel", written by Kesha Parish and Ronnie Parish, featuring Mark Parish. The song echoes the personal and spiritual brokeness they have experienced the last few months. "Just when you think you can't take anymore and your life is lying scattered in a million peices on the ground, God gently reaches down and picks it all back up and places us right back together again" Kesha says.
Jeremiah 18:3---Then I went down to the Potter's house and behold, He was working a work on the wheel".

Thank God...we're "Back on the Wheel".

John Penney Joins the Double E Promotions Roster

Early in his musical career, John Penney appeared throughout the Southeast at concert halls, fairs, festivals and nightclubs with the Sunshine Express Band, a six-piece country/rock group. Growing up in Southern Georgia, John heard countless country, gospel and rock ‘n roll legends, yet he developed a style all his own. After connecting with legendary Nashville producer, Joe Gibson, John began to thrive as a solo country music artist. With his songs receiving national attention, he found himself sharing the stage with artists such as Merle Haggard, John Anderson, Ronnie McDowell, T. Graham Brown, Freddy Fender, Moe Bandy, and Helen Cornelius.

During his time recording for NSD/Soundwaves Records, John garnered numerous accolades including twice named one of “Georgia’s Top Ten” acts by the Atlanta Songwriters Association, winning the Middle Georgia Talent Search for Best Original Music and Best Song, twice reaching the Top 10 in the Indie Bullet Songwriting Competition, and receiving numerous Billboard Awards. Additionally, John’s first album Georgia Lady produced several singles, which landed him in Cashbox’s “Top 100.”

John, always a family man, slowed down his career when his three girls Candace, Carla and Caitlin were born. Not wanting to be too far from home, he focused on his family and his faith. Becoming more involved in his local church with his wife, Carlene and his daughters, John soon found himself writing and performing Christian songs. He and his brother, Ray, a gospel singer, discussed cutting an inspirational project together, but Ray’s sudden death left John without the desire to record.

Ironically, the birth of his granddaughter, Stella, propelled him back into the studio. When John looked into her sparkling blue eyes for the first time, he knew he had to create this project for her. And he did – writing, recording and producing thirteen songs - culminating in his new CD, The Gospel Truth. John notes, “This album is a collection of Christian songs that I wrote for my family, myself and most of all, for my Jesus. It is who I am and a testament to my faith.”

Not afraid to praise Jesus in his music, John’s raw and down-to-earth songs are reminiscent of a simpler time. His lyrics are poignant and meaningful while his delivery is heartfelt. John comments, “My older brother Ray gave me a great piece of advice prior to his leaving this earth to be with our Father in Heaven. He said, ‘If you get the chance, tell ‘em about Jesus.’” And The Gospel Truth does exactly that. The album ends with a particularly personal composition entitled, “My Brother’s Song.” Heeding Ray’s words, John sings, “Be a giver not a taker, be a builder not a breaker, let Jesus be your bright and shining light.”

John has seen the good times and the bad, experienced triumphs and disappointments, but through everything, he has kept his passion for music and a heart for the Lord! John Penney is singing a new song for all to hear!
