Point of Honor Joins the Perry Edge Promotions Roster

Perry Edge, President of Perry Edge Promotions, is proud to announce the addition of Point of Honor to their Southern Gospel roster.

Southern Gospel to light Comtemparary-Group started 1994 by founding member Frankie Hiett King. Frankie writes, arranges, sings and plays keyboard. Ronny King joined the group in 1998 and later married Frankie in 2001. 2013 brought changes for the group when Marilyn Harper who came to the group in 1997 left to help with a family member. God had everything under control and supplied us with the honor of having a family group. Jimmy Hiett, cousin of Frankie and Valerie Hiett Smalley Frankie's niece came on-board adding even more variety to the sound! Our songs come from the heart and we are humbled to take the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to venues in the Southeast. Soon to produce our fourth CD. Look for us on American Gospel OnStage and Great American Gospel television shows. Our goal is to uplift the name of the Lord and to proclaim that the gospel is good news!

Mike & Doris Merritt Join the Double E Promotions Roster

Perry Edge, President of Double E Promotions, is proud to announce having Mike and Doris Merritt join the Country Gospel roster.

“There’s a certain code of eth- ics and values that remain out here,” says Mike, who grew up in Texas. “Not that everyone here is perfect, but the underlying, unspoken rule of thumb is that the Western way of life is more about how you live, not where you live.”

Now based in Oklahoma, the Merritts bring a fresh, positive message to their first ever duo album, Detours, (release date: August 26) and it’s a theme that mirrors the cowboy ministry the two have built over the past several years.

“We live in a ‘cowboy’ environment by choice,” Mike explains. “There’s something very special about the values shared in this community, and you can see it every day in the way people treat one another. You see it in their work ethic, and love of their country. The highest badge of honor you can wear is being known as someone who is honest, a man of his word. These are very godly characteris- tics, and we love being a part of it.”

“We tried to put together a collection of songs that reflect the things we love about this life,” Doris, a native of Nashville, adds. “This album is exciting because we feel it will give us the chance to expand what this ministry has become. We are hoping it opens doors.”

Growing up in Texas, Mike learned the life of a cowboy working on ranches, riding bulls and ro- deoing, honing his skills as a musician playing with an award-winning Texas band. Today, he is the preacher at the Cowboy Crossing Church in Hugo, Oklahoma. The church music director, Doris is likewise no stranger to the music business, having been part of the popular 80s Country group, Girls Next Door, enjoying chart-topping success with such songs as “Slow Boat To China” and “Love Will Get You Through Times of No Money.” “That song was requested on Christian radio as well as Coun- try radio,” Doris recalls. “That was confirmation that we were where God wanted us to be and He had his hand on us even back then.”

Produced by acclaimed Chris- tian musician Ron Hemby (The Imperials), the Merritts recruited steel / dobro legend Al Perkins (The Flying Burrito Brothers), multi-instrumentalist Andy Leftwich (Ricky Skaggs), fiddler Gail Johnson, multi- instrumentalists Bruce Watkins (Dolly Parton), pianist Dirk Johnson (Gene Watson), guitar- ist Tom Hemby (Amy Grant) and drummer Bobby Blazier (Michael Martin Murphey).

“I was amazed at how many tal- ented writers let us record their music,” Doris says. “Michael Martin Murphey spent so much time with us after surprising us in the studio to sing on his song ‘The Kill Pen.’ That was wonderful.”

Among the other writers represented on De- tours are Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz (“I Won’t Take Less Than Your Love”), Bill Mack (“Cling To A Saving Hand”), Roy Robinson (“The Cowboy Song”), Eric Horner (“Watch Over Those Who Are Watching Over Me”) and Dan Roberts (“Horses In Heaven”). The title track was a hit for Spade Cooley in 1946, spending 11 weeks on the country charts, while “May The Good Lord Take A Likin’ To Ya’” was written by none other than Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. “’The Place Where I Wor- ship’ (Fay Foster, Al Goodhart, Florence Tarr) is perfect for us,” Doris says. “The lyric sure fits the ‘cowboy lifestyle.’”

A highlight of the album is the reunion of the Girls Next Door (Cindy Nixon Psanos, Tammy Stephens Smith, Diane Williams Austin) on the Ira Stanphill classic “I Know Who Holds Tomor- row,” and the Overstreet, Fred Carpenter and BIlly Prince gem “Till The Answer Comes (Gotta Keep Praying).” It’s also a treat to hear them re- prise their hit, “Love Will Get You Through Times Of No Money.”

“This is an extraordinary time for us,” says Mike. “God is positive, and that’s what we are trying to show. That’s what we find in this way of life, and we want everybody to know about it.”

The Peter Christie Band Joins the Double E Promotions Roster

Perry Edge, President of Double E Promotions, is proud to announce the addition of the Peter Christie Band to their Country Gospel roster!

Relative newcomers to the Country Gospel scene, the Peter Christie Band deliver a polished, vibrant and engaging performance that will have you tapping your toes, singing and clapping along. Touted by Shayne Holstein from Radio RHEMA as “the Best Country Gospel Group in Australia” they are making their mark here in Australia as well as in the South Africa and Malaysia receiving both radio airplay as well as television airplay of 2 music video clips.

Hailing from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, the band is fast building a strong following on the country music circuit with well received performances at the Slim Dusty festival, Canberra Country Music festival and of course the Tamworth Country Music festival. The band can also be seen performing regularly around Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
The Peter Christie Band are highly regarded as a Country Gospel band in Christian Music circles with regular weekend appearances at churches and christian music festivals throughout the Eastern States of Australia including Easterfest - one of the worlds largest Christian Music Festivals and Blackstump. They provide a ministry to small country churches who do not have regular access to live music. They have been featured in magazines such as the Creative Ministries Magazine, (a national magazine) and Trad and Now.

The bands most recent album “REVIVAL” has so far had 3 songs reach the semi finals of the CCM Network International Songwriting Competition. “My father’s House” won the Gospel Song of the Year Award as well as the “Most Outstanding Country Music Award” at the 2013 Canberra Country Blues and Roots Festival. “When My Time Comes” was also a finalist in the TSA Songwriters Salute Awards for Gospel Song of the year in 2014.
